For more than 20 years, Liz Mohler, M.S. has been helping individuals and groups get on the road to career and life success. She works in person or virtually in a variety of industries and her motto is “Do what you love and the money will follow!” She helps individuals and groups from all walks of life identify their values, interests, skills, traits and passions. Liz specializes in career related issues including facilitating retreat to improve retention and facilitation board retreats to increase engagement and improve productivity for non-profits, government and business.. She worked for Right Associates and DBM providing outplacement services to executives in entertainment, aerospace, law, banking and medical fields. In 2003 she officially opened her private career coaching practice and created the audio CD, “If the Job Fits Get it! Securing a Great Job Fast.”
Liz grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. She started as a camp counselor and founded a special events company while working part-time for Walgreens in High School. She worked through college in Residence Life and at half way homes and detox centers providing as a recreation therapist. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelors of Science in Rehabilitation Psychology. She moved to Tucson to become a Hall Director at the University of Arizona and taught life skills at a variety of psychiatric hospitals, treatment centers and wellness spas in Tucson while getting her Masters’ in Educational Psychology/Vocational Rehabilitation. Liz worked at Sydney University in Australia as a conference coordinator and then landed her dream job traveling around the world. She worked for Semester at Sea as a Resident Advisor responsible for student life on a ship. In this capacity, she traveled to 13 different countries, from Canada to Asia to Africa to South America learning about the culture, history and work/life balance. Her passion for travel has taken her back to Europe, where she lived as a child while her Shakespeare professor father was on sabbatical, to Cambodia for a wedding, and back to Australia to live for the summer with her husband and two sons.
After graduating from the U of A she moved to Los Angeles to work as a Vocational Evaluator conducting assessments for injured workers for the Department of Rehabilitation. She is past VP of the Greater LA Chapter of the National Speakers Association and in 2014 returned as an advisor to the Speakers Academy teaching consultants and entrepreneurs how to make money in the business of speaking. For 6 years she was Chair of Business Development and on the Board of the Westchester Chamber of Commerce. Her knowledge of Chambers of Commerce and their ability to foster business relationships lead to consulting jobs with both the LAX/ Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce and the Venice Chamber of Commerce.
Liz wrote the curriculum and taught a 40 hour soft skills course called Personal Dynamics for the Private Industry Councils in Carson, Lomita and Torrance. She managed a grant and 10 subcontractors to provide career counseling at the California WorkSource centers for 6 years. She returned to the One Stop Career centers as a career consultant for the Ezra Network of the Jewish Federation/JVS. She provides consulting/workshops at Palisades Charter High, UCLA, LMU, USC and LA County Libraries, Alumni Associations, and conducts retreats for organizations going thru change such as Crystal Stairs where she facilitated a day retreat using The Colors assessment for Senior staff. She is a guest lecturer and career advisor for the Grazadio MBA program at Pepperdine and teaches Theories and Practices of Career Development in Malibu and West LA.
Liz lives near Silicon Beach with her husband who generates revenue for internet start-ups as a sales and marketing consultant. She has one son at UCLA in the Design Media Arts program and one at Boston University on a lacrosse scholarship.
